Quality Assurance

Excellence is doing ordinary things, extraordinarily well John W. Gardener

Quality work with children and young people depends on creating an ethos and philosophy which has, at its heart, a belief in and commitment to their well-being and potential, and their absolute right to remain free from harm.  In order for this to happen we have to put the children we support at the centre of everything we do. Our community values espouse the view that our staff and pupils must have high expectations and work hard and that we will never give up on a child. We use internal and external quality assurance methods to verify that the children and young people within TCES National Online School are being supported to become young leaders,  successful learners, confident individuals, responsible citizens and independent adults. This ensures that a culture of responsibility, accountability and expectation is created and maintained throughout the organisation and owned by every member of staff.

Internal quality assurance

Maintaining and improving standards is principally driven by the school leadership teams and by their partnership with our school support teams. That is the culture of responsibility and accountability that we expect from our schools and all of our services. Our Commercial and Operational Boards and especially our Board of Governors focus on the improvement of educational standards so that children and young people have the chance to realise their full potential.

We have put in place a system of internal quality assurance, that begins in the Autumn term through two day Internal Peer Inspections of all our schools and services. These are led by an experienced education consultant, with Inspection team members including Heads from the other schools/services and augmented by members of the senior team. The resultant actions from the reports are picked up by the Governors throughout the year through Governors two-day visits, Committee meetings and regular additional meetings on-site. Governors drive school improvement through a forensic and dedicated approach, that has pupil progress as its primary focus.

We also have a number of QA processes, which ensure that our pupils’ attendance, behaviour, emotional, and social outcomes are monitored as much as our pupils’ academic outcomes.

TCES consistent long-term excellence

TCES National Online school is the newest addition to TCES. Whilst the online school has just been in existence since September 2020, TCES has been in existence for almost a quarter century providing social care and alternative education initially, and subsequently running our London Independent Special Schools for almost fifteen years. For the benefits of LA commissioners, referring schools and parents or carers, TCES has an enviable record of achievement that will provide reassurance to the customers of TCES National Online school.

Since we opened TCES North West London in 2008 and TCES East London in 2009, we have had 100% (a total of ten) ‘Good’, ‘Good’ with ‘Outstanding Standards’ or  ‘Outstanding’ (30%) Ofsted inspection reports. That is a record of consistent high quality that we are very proud of.
